How to Get to Basalt

Depending on where you are coming from, there are a number of ways to reach Basalt, Colorado. Aspen airport is the closest airport to Basalt, just 25 minutes away, while flying into Denver International Airport and driving (or taking a shuttle) the 3 1/2 hours to Basalt is often the most economic option. Another option is to drive over Independence Pass and down into Aspen for the most breathtaking views around. Eagle/Vail Airport is roughly an hour away from Basalt, and the Grand Junction Airport is about 2 hours from our historic mountain town. Each route is scenic in its own way, and is surely worth the trip. Please see more info below on each option for getting to Basalt.

Colorado Mountain Express (CME) :
Getting to and from the Denver International Airport or Vail/Eagle County Airport on the Colorado Mountain Express is easy! Both airports provide shuttle services on a continual schedule to and from our property in a comfortable, timely manner. From Denver International Airport (DEN) :
Basalt is approximately 200 miles (or 3 1/2 hours) from Denver International Airport. DIA serves as a nonstop destination for numerous national and international flights. Car rentals, taxis and shuttle services are available at the airport.

If you are driving, take I-70 West to Glenwood Springs, then take Highway 82 East to Basalt. Or, for a more scenic route, take I-70 West to Highway 91 South (through Leadville) to Highway 24 South. From Highway 24, go west on Highway 82 and over Independence Pass (only open from spring through late fall, weather depending) and then travel 20 miles West on Highway 82 to Basalt.

 

Aspen Airport (ASE) :
The Aspen Airport, Sardy Field, is a short 20-minute drive from downtown Basalt. The airport offers a full schedule of flights year-round, operated by several major airlines and private aviation companies. Direct flights are available from major cities such as Los Angeles, Phoenix and Denver. (The flight from Denver to Aspen is a 30-minute trip featuring breathtaking Rocky Mountain views.) From Vail/Eagle County Airport (EGE) :
Basalt is only 60 miles (or 1 hour) from Vail/Eagle County Airport. If you are driving, take I-70 West to Glenwood Springs, then take Highway 82 East towards Aspen/Basalt. Basalt is just 20 miles from Glenwood Springs. Vail/Eagle County Airport provides air service from virtually every U.S. city. From Grand Junction :
Basalt is an easy 2 hours from Grand Junction. If you are driving, take I-70 East to Glenwood Springs, then take Highway 82 East towards Aspen/Basalt. Basalt is just 20 miles from Glenwood Springs.
